Last week, I went viral with 2 million impressions on LinkedIn.
I summarised the LinkedIn tips I read in Richard van der Blom’s slide deck.
🔥 How to get Max Traction on Linkedin
In two parts - (1) what I shared on LinkedIn, (2) what I didn’t share.
(1) What I shared on LinkedIn
Seriously, this is a pretty epic template on what to do and what to avoid. It is partly the algorithm, but mostly just human psychology where we like looking and clicking through content that is easy to comprehend.
📱💻 OVERALL
Mobile vs Desktop - 65% vs 35%
3-4 weekly posts are optimal
The first 60 minutes set the tone for first 6 hours
The first 6 hours' average hourly engagement sets the tone of the next 18 hours ⏳
The best-performing content in order:

3. ✍️🌅 TEXT + IMAGE
Most effective text length ranges between 900 to 1,200 characters

A single image boosts visibility by 15-20%, a relevant selfie by 30% 📸
Each additional image boosts by 5% up to the 5th image 💫
4. 📖 TEXT ONLY
Optimal length of 1,800 - 2,100 characters
A strong opening hook has a 30% boost 🔍
Ending your post with a question gives you a 20-40% boost ❓
5. 🎥 VIDEOS
Optimal length is between 1-2 minutes
Pair it with text no longer than 500 characters
Vertical video performs +15% better
(2) What I didn’t share 🆕 TIPS
There are a couple of basics that I didn’t share but are even more important.
Don’t edit your post in the first hour - ideally at all.
Don’t delete and repost - the reach plummets.
Don’t put links in the main post - LinkedIn doesn’t like off-platform.
Comment A LOT - the more engaging the conversation on your posts the better.
BUT don’t be the first comment on your post.
End with a Question - to the above point, you want to stimulate the conversation.
